Broad knowledge and skills in healthcare and nursing. I enjoy helping others and teaching is a strong passion. As well as my nursing qualification RGN and my subsequent degree ( BA in Nursing Studies, with Distinction), I went on to study a post-graduate certificate in Counselling Skills and also received the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills. I studied for my Return to Practice through Stirling University achieving an A*+ and was top of my class. I then gained over 6 years experience working as a Practice Nurse in a very busy GP surgery in Dundee. The opportunity of a post came up for a lecturer in healthcare at Dundee and Angus College in 2016 where I currently work, I have since completed the PDA Teaching in Scotland's Colleges qualification and completed the TQFE teaching qualification in May 2019. I teach a range of health and social care subjects aimed at learners from SCQF level 4 up to level 8. This includes teaching a variety of practical clinical skills as well as a wide range of academic teaching, preparing learners for a university education where many then go on to study nursing, midwifery, paramedic practice and other allied Healthcare professions. My role also includes responsibility for a couple of classes each year as their Group Tutor, offering support and guidance, including UCAS support and reference writing, as well as providing pastoral support to students. I have a strong interest in AI in education, as well as digital learning and teaching methodologies. I am a very hard worker, enthusiastic and a fast learner. Excellent time-keeping skills and very few absences throughout my entire working life. Excellent communicator, team player, reliable and supportive with a good sense of humour.
