Providing expertise in the area of climate change and environmental regulatory impacts on military readiness and national security, I work with government agencies and non-profits in developing mitigation and adaptive management strategies.Ms VanDervort brings over 25 years of experience developing strategies, policy, and guidance for the Department of Defense to mitigate climate change and environmental regulatory impacts to military readiness. Before retiring from federal service in 2014, Ms VanDervort served as the Deputy Director for Ranges, Sea, and Airspace in the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Readiness). She also served as a senior advisor on environmental and climate change issues impacting training capability for the Army and as their Integrated Training Area Management Program Manager responsible for the long term sustainability of over 7 million acre of training land, worldwide.She currently serves as a member of the Climate and Security Advisory Board and a member of the International Military Council on Climate and Security.
