I have worked as Visitor Services Manager at FACT for 19 years and I can say that no two days have been the same in all that time. The dynamism of FACT and it's constant search for innovative work means that I have as much passion for the art we show now as at the beginning. The visitors at FACT are a community of people that it is an honour to serve and I feel as though I've been on hand to see both the company and this community grow together over the years.FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) has been leading the UK video, film and new media arts scene for 20 years with groundbreaking exhibitions, education and research projects. The organisation aims to pioneer new forms of artistic and social interaction with individuals and communities.During its history, FACT has commissioned and presented over 250 digital media works with artists including Pipilotti Rist, Bill Viola, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Vito Acconci and Isaac Julien. Liverpool
Liverpool City Region Pride (previously Liverpool Pride) is one of the biggest FREE LGBT+ Pride festivals, outside of London, in the UK. Since 2010, LCR Pride has established itself as one of the major highlights in the city.Following a number of high profile homophobic attacks in the city, the event was established in 2010, attracting over 20,000 to our March and stages, and now takes place each year to coincide with the anniversary of the murder of a local young gay man, Michael Causer. In 2016, we moved to the beautiful surroundings of the St Georges Quarter and produced two days of brilliant outdoor fun in the beautiful setting of Liverpool's St Georges Quarter. We attracted more than 30,000 people , and held our first ever family day on Sunday, We Are Family. The people of Liverpool make this Festival what it is - extraordinary!Working with our brilliant team, I had co-responsibility for Liverpool Pride's cultural offer outside the main festival day, eg films screenings, exhibitions and displays, writers and photographers groups, gardening events. I work to support our volunteers and in 2018 wrote a successful bid for funding to expand our volunteer team with particular focus on those aged 18 - 25.In 2016 and 2017, we received Arts Council funding and worked with cultural partners across Liverpool City Region to increase diversity and recognise event more of the region's creative peopleIn September 2017, we won the Liverpool Echo Community Event of the Year!In July 2018, we took over a space at TATE Liverpool as part of TATE Exchange and ran a week of events under the banner of Producing Equality.Liverpool Pride 2018 returned the event to the streets of Liverpool, taking over the Tithebarn Street area of the city on Saturday 28 July and held events in arts venues across the city on Sunday 29th, with the hub at The Bluecoat. It was our most successful event to date, as 10,000 people took part in our March and 50,000 attended the Saturday festival.
