Officially RETIRED, June 2015!In August, 2014, the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce, Diversity Focus and the Iowa City Area Development group hired me for a year-long pilot program to create an "employment hub" or starting point for job seekers who want to work in the Corridor. The targeted audience for this initiative is mid to senior level job seekers who want to move to the area, who are already here and want to make a job change, or those who have lost a job and want to stay in the Corridor. My task has been to create awareness of this resource, provide expert job search counsel, assistance, and encouragement, introduce them to people who might help them in their job search, and make referrals to other Corridor resources to help in their comprehensive job search. Inherent in this project is a strong committment to help local businesses find the talent best suited to their needs. In 1994, I was hired by The University of Iowa to create and implement a program to assist new faculty and staff spouses or partners in finding employment. The Dual Career Network (DCN) has been dubbed a “model program” by many universities, and won 3rd place in the 2009 Career Director’s International, Career Innovator Award. I am a Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW), and a certified Job and Career Transition Coach (JCTC) with over 25 years’ experience in the career management and job search field. I have served as advisor, keynote speaker, and consultant to over 65 universities in the U.S. and Canada, as well as southern Germany on the topic of higher education programming for dual career services. I was co-founder of the International Higher Education Dual Career Association (IHEDCA) and was member of the founding Leadership Team.
