I began my professional life as a psychiatric nurse and later returned to graduate school to earn a Ph.D. in psychology. Through-out my career I have moved between the roles of clinician and educator. As a consultant, I developed and presented programs in interpersonal communication skills, assertiveness training, stress management, and attitude change. I also maintained a private practice in psychotherapy for 20 years. During my training and supervision as a therapist and my work as an educator, it became clear to me that people who were not struggling with mental or emotional disorders, did not need "therapy" in order to make great changes in their quality of life. I wanted to use my experience as a therapist and teacher to create and in depth educational approach to self-understanding and self-management. Self mastery training is the result of that desire.
