Clinical instructor for undergrad RN students at Children's Hospital Emergency Department and Floor 6A.•Performs physical assessment, obtain vital signs and report to physicians. •Responsible for acting as charge nurse when clinical leader calls off. •Resource for new residents and novice nurses. Interacts with all disciplines to provide optimal care of patients and families. •Participate in Level One and Level Two Traumas, documenting, obtaining blood work, rapid infuser, EKG, administer medications. •Educating families for admission and discharge from Emergency Department. •Provide patient care for up to three to four patients requiring extensive care. •Monitor patients during procedural sedations. Ensure consents are signed between family and physician. Monitor patients and be prepared for adverse events.•Act as patient advocate and follows policies and procedures outlined by hospital. •Works cohesively with other nurses and personnel.

Teaching undergraduate nursing students and second-degree nursing students how to conduct head-to-toe assessments in the pediatric population at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. •Teaching by using hands on learning to obtain weights, vitals signs and communicate with patients and families in the hospital setting. •Students learn to communicate with patients, families, nurses and physicians, while asking questions of the instructor. •Discuss medications, patient pathology and physiology at post conference, and care maps.
