I lead the college's Careers & Futures team, working with students aged 16+, as well as adult learners, advising them on career and higher education paths. The college provides a wide range of vocational courses from Entry Level to 5 (HND), and our students go on to university, apprenticeships, or straight out to work. As well as 1:1 appointments, we run CV workshops, practice interview panels, and large HE, employability, and career events several times a year. I worked with students aged 11-18, advising them on career and further/higher education paths, and encouraging them to believe they can shine. During my time there, I raised the profile of the careers service within the Academy, until it was regularly cited as one of the strengths of our provision. Students began to show more ambition with their career choices, and satisfaction with the career service was close to 100%.

The Prime Minister's Strategy Unit was an elite unit based in the UK Cabinet Office. Competition to work in the SU was fierce, and the unit drew in high-fliers from academia, the City, top consultancy firms, think tanks, and the senior Civil Service. Then moved to co-author a report on general socio-economic trends, and finally led work on the social statistics policies of the department.
