My professional focus has always been related to birds, a lifelong passion. Besides hands-on work with birds of all kinds, I am known for working effectively in unique collaborative partnerships to create bird-friendly communities and for my expertise related to bird-window collisions. This focus was developed over a decade of studying this problem and working with partners and colleagues around the world to devise and implement solutions.My passion for birds and nature started in elementary school and led to my focus on conservation as a career. I studied Wildlife Science (Cornell University, BS) and Conservation Biology (University of Minnesota, MS) and have spent my career (so far) working for the Minnesota Zoo, The World Parrot Trust, Audubon, The Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota and now the American Bird Conservancy as well as a variety of research jobs around the country.

Together we presented programs to over 100,000 people every year, in person and, starting in 2020 virtually - innovating to create new experiences for connecting people with raptors and their environments.
