Fifteen organizations and a growing number of funders that advance economic justice are coming together to launch the Beloved Economies Collaborative for Narrative Infrastructure in January 2025. Housed by Full Spectrum Labs at Movement Strategy Center, this bold initiative will open new possibilities for action by working together to move inclusive economies solutions from the fringes to the forefront of mainstream culture. Supporting the launch of a multi-organization collaborative dedicated to accelerating workplace transformation as a means of bringing to life economies that work for all. The Beloved Economies Collaborative focuses on narrative-change and building infrastructure needed to ignite widespread reimagination and repair of how we work.

Based on extensive research with organizations and companies across the U.S. that are boldly breaking out of business as usual, Beloved Economies is a campaign to shift mainstream perceptions about what’s possible for the economy—and why changing the way we work matters in getting us to a better place.Co-facilitated a seven-year research process with a co-learning community of sixty diverse enterprises and organizations; led fundraising and management for the Beloved Economies research and campaign team; co-authored the collaborative book Beloved Economies: Transforming How We Work (shortlisted for the 2022 Porchlight Business Book Award); and served as one of four executive producers of the speculative fiction podcast The Light Ahead. https://www.belovedeconomies.org/

Exchanging grassroots brilliance, Thousand Currents funds grassroots groups led by women, youth, and Indigenous Peoples in the Global South.As founding director of the Buen Vivir Fund, led an initial research process with Thousand Currents' grassroots partners, staff, and board, as well engaging 40 groups and individuals working in impact investment in the Global South, to identify a unique approach to investment profoundly aligned with Thousand Currents' values and aims. Formed a founding circle of ten grassroots organizations from Asia, Africa, and Latin America, along with eight investing organizations from the U.S., and facilitated the group to co-create the Buen Vivir Fund's impact thesis, guiding principles, and operational details. In collaboration with Jess Rimington, investigated high-impact practices for co-creation, with a focus on how collaboration can be most effective for economic transformation. The findings and questions surfaced as Visiting Scholars initiated the collaborative Beloved Economies Research Initiative, which Jess and Joanna co-led from 2015 - 2022.

From 2006-2014, Joanna served as Executive Director of the International Accountability Project (IAP). Under her leadership, IAP won precedent-setting policies for ensuring citizen participation and human rights safeguards at global financial institutions including the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, and Asian Development Bank. Joanna also developed and launched IAP's core programmatic model of Global Advocacy Teams, bringing together exceptional grassroots leaders to coordinate citizen research for development policy solutions.
