My role predominantly involved financial services litigation/dispute resolution. After six weeks in the position, I was promoted to team leader, managing a team of junior lawyers. The majority of the work I undertook was in respect of the ongoing FCA review of the mis-selling of derivatives products to SMEs. This included: * Assessing Past Business Review (“PBR”) customer consequential loss claims, including the application of complex legal principles; * Instructing Counsel; * Drafting letters to PBR customers in line with an FCA-approved methodology; * Drafting internal consequential loss claim assessment summaries; * Developing project strategies; * Drafting and maintaining core strategy & policy documentation; * Assisting with complex and technical legal queries from within the bank and externally; * Liaising with the bank's internal Commercial Banking resources; * Liaising with the bank's Relationship Managers;* Analysing internal Commercial Banking information/records; * The mathematical analysis of specific Heads of Loss claimed by PBR customers; * Producing Management Information; * Performing a Quality Assessor function in respect of my team's output; * The supervision and training of my team members and training other members of the wider consequential loss team; * Acting as a point of contact for external Counsel, the Skilled Person and the bank's senior management (and core legal team).
