During my degree and since completion, I have gained experience with Avon Wildlife Trusts Land Management and Monitoring teams. Have Brush cutter competency, First Aid at Work and have competence using hand tools such as Scythes and hand axes. I have created dead hedges and hedge laying, built dry stone walls, completed Protected species surveys such as Great Crested newt, Greater horseshoe bat and Phase 1 habitat surveys.I also have volunteered for Somerset Wildlife Trust and Natural England. This has been completing Surveys of Bitterns, Large Marsh Grasshoppers, Shrill Carder Bees, European Eels and I have completed livestock fencing as well as looking after livestock including sheep, ponies, cows. I have gained the Maintenence and cross cutting Chainsaw course and Small Tree felling.Completed a lot of scrub clearance on reserves, worked on public and private land and have led many volunteer groups.I have been a ground maintenance operator, I was a seasonal strimmer until they made my job permanent to complete winter work which includes hedge trimming, tidying Gardens and driving heavy loaded vehicles. I have finished one of Avon Wildlife Trusts projects called: North Somerset Rewilding Champions Project which has been in partnership with North Somerset Council. It has been new and exciting, I have learnt how to manage a project and liaise with a variety of stakeholders, community groups and gaining confidence as I held engagement events for the public. This was only a temp role but I am grateful the trust thought of me when this position came up. My first job in Conservation and it was with the trust that first trained me up.I am now working for Blue Diamond at their Sanders Garden centre. working with the Hardy plant team i am increasing my knowledge of cultivated plants. Helping with customer queries it can be challenging in this new role but I have a lovely team of people each with their own expertise so settling in has been a breeze. other duties include dead heading plants and lots and lots of watering.
