Elected for the first time in May 2018. Re-elected in May 2022. Representing the residents and business ratepayers of Chiswick Gunnersbury ward. The ward includes the longest stretch of Chiswick High Road, the beating heart of Chiswick; five conservation areas; four open spaces including the Grade II* listed Gunnersbury Park; a nature reserve; an award-winning business park; and places of worship for seven faiths or denominations. With over 250 independent shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and service businesses, ours is a retail and hospitality economy so I set up the Chiswick Shops Task Force to support independents through a tricky economic climate before Covid-19 made it even worse. Now Chiswick's reputation as a destination is under attack from Labour Hounslow's anti-car ideology. Chiswick has excellent public transport, though none of its tube or train stations is accessible and this must be changed, but it also has excellent road access. As a reputation management consultant: I work with independent businesses, charities and entrepreneurs - building and protecting their reputations. As a crisis communications consultant: I work with businesses, charities and individuals advising them on how to avoid, prepare for, manage and recover from reputation crises.

I write with a light touch about food (no meal too small or large), travel (London, UK, anywhere) and human interest issues (I am as capable of tackling them sensitively as I am of stirring up debate). For three and a half years I wrote all local issue features, the kids' corner section, articles about local business owners and interviews with authors, actors and chefs including Antonio Carluccio for The Green (which became The Resident) published by Archant and distributed in Chiswick and west London. For six heady weeks I had my own column in PR Business, taking a sideways look at freelance life. I thought I'd made it when a pitch to The Independent was accepted 11 minutes later. I've written about London for the New Zealand Herald and other travel articles for Air Canada's CheckIn magazine for travel agents. And I ate my way round London and nearby to write restaurant and food reviews for Foodepedia and Square Meal.

Musequality, established in 2007, set up and supported communal music-making projects for some of the most disadvantaged children in the developing world. It was founded by David Juritz, professional violinist and former leader of the London Mozart Players, who spent four and a half months busking round the world to kickstart its fundraising and raise awareness of its work. I met him for the first time less than 24 hours before he set off for the final leg of his tour, and worked with his wife Jane to find him places to busk and stay, and get media coverage, in Hong Kong, Japan, China, Korea, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Venezuela, numerous cities in the USA and Canada and back in London. His last busk was on the steps of 10 Downing Street. It was round the world for him - and round the clock for Jane and me. Recommended and achieved a change in its name, logo and image to make it more representative of its work and reflect the modern reality of a former, smokestack industry. Improved the organisation's communications. Implemented successful lobbying campaign on the landfill tax. Organised seminars and conferences.

Managed the press office including after the Bishopsgate bomb in 1993, providing a round the clock service to local, national and international media to rebuild the City's reputation as one of the top three financial centres in the world. Security measures were paramount; the Corporation introduced what the press dubbed "the ring of steel". Was part of the team that revised the Corporation's crisis management plan and contributed to the development of the City's crisis management plan. Managed a major public consultation campaign on the management of Hampstead Heath. Was proud to have a riverside view of the spectacular firework display that marked Tower Bridge's 100th birthday in 1994.

Managed media, lobbying and crisis management campaigns for clients including the National Care Homes Association, the Pet Food Manufacturers Association, The Takeover Panel, The General Council of the Bar, The Mars Group of Companies in the UK.

Implemented decisions made by its elected officers and committee. Organised fringe meetings at party conferences, TRG's annual conference, AGMs and other events for members. Wrote newsletters for members; edited policy and campaigning documents and briefings; wrote press releases and managed press relations. Representing the wets opposing Margaret Thatcher's very dry policies, we were front page news. I organised the TRG's 15th anniversary dinner at which Harold Macmillan made his famous "selling off the family silver" speech when he criticised using the proceeds of privatisation as if it were income. After three plus years as national co-ordinator, I was elected national secretary for three years.

Established office and administrative systems for newly elected MP. Managed media relations in his local constituency (Mid Kent). I had worked for Andrew before and was delighted to work for him again; he remained an important mentor with a wise, broad mind who I turned to for advice until he died in November 2008.

Wrote RADAR's first guide to employment, helping disabled people find work.

Started off as secretary to Andrew Rowe, director of the community affairs department. Nothing beats working through a general election that you win. Was promoted after 18 months to community affairs officer for the East Midlands responsible for building the party's relationships with ethnic minorities, voluntary organisations, trade unions, small businesses, young people and students. The department was set up by Ted Heath - and abolished by Margaret Thatcher.
