Big Society Capital is the world’s first social investment wholesaler. Its mission is to improve the lives of people in the UK by connecting investment to social sector organisations that are creating social change, through investing into social investment intermediaries, as well as developing the social investment market in the UK. To date, Big Society Capital has committed over £1.7 billion alongside co-investors across a range of social issue areas and asset classes.

Acumen launched its first Energy Impact Report in early 2018, a comprehensive look at the impact of its 10 years of investing in off-grid energy as of 2017; the culmination of 7,500 interviews with 5,500 off-grid energy customers across 11 countries using Lean Data. In my Summer Associate role, I managed the execution of Acumen's 2018 Energy Lean Data projects and researchers for its' next impact report, tailored surveys to gather additional insights for companies, conducted analysis on qualitative and quantitative data gathered, and created compelling presentations using this data to spur actionable insights for companies. I led a focus group with local researchers to refine guidelines used when surveying improved cookstove users, and created a database to manage researcher training. Developed by Acumen, Lean Data applies lean experimentation principles to the collection, use, and accessibility of social impact data. Lean Data helps companies incorporate impact measurement and customer-centricity into their businesses by using low-cost technology and methods to gather high-quality data quickly and efficiently directly from customers. It involves a shift in the mindset of impact measurement away from reporting and compliance, to creating value for a company and its customers.

LensShift is developing a comprehensive online resource hub to address misguided development and social impact work. Key partners include NPR, Princeton in Africa, University of Johannesburg, and the Peace Corps.As a Fellow, I designed and developed data visualisations to map the depth and breadth of the LensShift Taxonomy. By collaborating with my colleagues, I ensured the quality of data was appropriate for effective and creative visualisation.

• Managed 100+ volunteers to coordinate KPMG’s 2015 and 2016 United Way campaigns for 2,700 employees – the largest Toronto professional services campaign and recipient of two awards• Planned campaign goals and strategies with partner co-chairs, facilitated volunteer training, and organized firm-wide campaign events attended by 700 employees

• Double promoted from a Senior Consultant role effective October 2016• Coordinated teams in Latin America, Oceania, and North America consisting of 16 partners, managers, and specialists; ensured all deliverables exceeded client expectations• Resolved complex advisory matters for 15 clients by conducting in-depth research and interpretation of government legislation, and documenting solutions in written memos• Conducted competitive analysis for 10+ clients using financial data of industry, competitors, and macroeconomic factors, to identify risks and appraise performance
