Learned USAID protocol while supporting strategic planning and submission of operational and implementation plans to Washington.

Hands-on work to support behavior change in health and nutrition through education and community mobilization over three years: 1) Assistant Food Security Coordinator (August 2009-October 2009): Began the Peace Corps/Mali implementation of the new Global Response to Food Security Participating Agency Program Agreement with USAID/Mali. 2) Technical Assistant, ONG Nouveaux Horizons, Gao, Mali (April 2009-August 2009): Collaborated with the Kénéya Ciwara program supervisors and six community counselors (CC) in activity planning, data collection and analysis of Community Health Associations self-evaluations, and resolution of problems encountered in the field resulting in the improvement of CC activities. 3) Technical Assistant, Oxfam GB, Gao, Mali (July 2008-March 2009): Presented good health practices to the sixteen target villages through radio and theater, created nutrition support groups for sixty mothers of young children led by community health workers; Trained and supervised field agents and CHW in community education and creation of pump management committees; Created tools to evaluate the EU funded Integrated Water and Nutrition project and assisted in the development and execution of a KAP (Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices) survey allowing the organization to evaluate the results of the project. 4) Health Education Volunteer, Ansongo, Mali, (July 2006-July 2008): Facilitated implementation of the national protocol to assist families raise healthy children by identifying and treating cases of acute malnutrition at the town’s hospital; Created radio broadcasts on good health; Led health education classes and basketball lessons for 6th grade girls; Began a sustainable local waste collection system for 150 families; Trained two women’s groups and one group of artisans on donated sewing machines; Led enriched flour-making for women to generate income with the installation of a grain mill.
