Joanna Mayo is a Senior Education Consultant at Scoot Education at Scoot Education. I met Joanna in November of 2022 when she transferred from a different office within our company. At the beginning of July of 2023, we began working on the same team, and what a pleasure it has been working with her. When we work in the office together Joanna helps me to look at challenges with a positive outlook. Her bubbly personality makes time pass quickly as we are filling positions and getting subs to schools. One of the strengths she has that I have the pleasure of experiencing consistently is her warm ability to be encouraging and make even your tiniest of successes feel grand. When Joanna shows appreciation for those around her she doesn't just give the easy-to-relay thank you, she also calls out the things that make you great and her observations about what she liked about the way you handled something. Joanna treats every sub with kindness and relays more information about assignments to them than other consultants. It can be easy to succumb to the pressure of needing to fill a large number of school requests in such a tight time frame by getting on and off the phones with substitute teachers so that all positions are filled in the morning, but I never see that with Joanna. She is intentional about which subs she knows will be the best fit and takes the time to make sure they have all the information they need for the assignment for the day. She makes subs feel confident and prepared for the day through her attention to detail and kind nature. She slowly builds relationships with each morning call and afternoon check-in. I recently let Joanna know that though she wasn't a classroom educator, she is a great teacher. Whenever I need to learn something new or catch up on something I've missed, I enjoy going to her because of her patience. I can always count on her to relay the information and I won't feel judged for not knowing the process she is going over and I won't be rushed into understanding what she is teaching.
