Supervisor/Head Barista

Cafe Assistant/Barista
My experience at the Happy Pear developed my customer service skills and built my confidence in multi-tasking, working with a team and working in high pressure environments. I learned to prioritise responsibilities when there were several tasks to juggle and most importantly, I learned to keep my composure if any difficulties would arise. Tasks included making speciality coffees, prepping food, processing orders on the till, serving customers, cleaning floors and tables, managing stock and opening and closing the business. All in all I had a great time working with some great people at the Happy Pear and I feel that I gained a lot from the experience.
Social Media Assistant
Once my internship had ended the gallery hired me part time to create social media content for one of their photographic archive projects, the Photo Album of the Irish. I also assisted the development of the website as well as the project itself by writing copy, adding metadata and editing photographs. I had a wonderful experience at the gallery and it really opened my eyes to my strengths and interests in the arts.
Intern
My responsibilities as an intern at the Gallery of Photography were broad and varied. Primarily, I helped manage front of house which included greeting visitors, answering queries, booking workshops and taking payments for the gallery’s bookshop. I also had the opportunity to develop the gallery’s social media and marketing outlets by creating social media content, sending newsletter material to subscribers, updating the gallery website as well as taking photographs for promotional purposes. I really enjoyed the process of promoting the gallery in new and creative ways. Aside from this, this internship gave me the opportunity to meet photographers, journalists and artists and assist with exhibition and book launches hosted at the gallery.
