About Joanna Tebbs Young, Ma, Mfa

My skills, experience, and passions all come under the umbrella of Storytelling. I find the human stories behind the facts, both personal and historical, and help others tell theirs.I have been a freelance writer since 2011 and currently write a column focused on local social history for The Rutland Herald/Times Argus Weekend Magazine. I authored and designed an award-winning visual biography of a Vermont historian and my personal essays have been published in various journals and magazines. Most recently, I was a finalist for the Vermont Writers' Prize. I have in the works a memoir and essay collection which focus on the de/re-mything of religious and patriarchal narratives.I am currently a CNF editor for the Clockhouse Journal.Trained with the Center for Journal Therapy, I am also an experienced workshop facilitator and expressive-writing coach. Since 2015, I have been a facilitator for Vermont Humanities Council and teaching artist for the Transformative Language Arts Network.
