The Office of Faculty Affairs provides a wide variety of assistance to faculty,associate deans, deans, chairs, faculty assembly, UDALI, and otherconstituents on matters related to faculty appointment, reappointment,tenure, and promotion processes, faculty awards, policies, and programoutcomes and assessment. As the Interim AVC, I supervise the Directorof the Office of Assessment, the Director of the Center for Faculty Developmentand Advancement, the Senior Faculty Affairs Coordinator, theBusiness Coordinator, and the Program Specialist and facilitate the workof the Core Curriculum Oversight Committee. Areas of oversight alsoinclude campus-level faculty awards and events that celebrate faculty successesand milestones achieved. In this position, I engage in a variety ofactivities such as oversight of the office budget, representing CU Denveron the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s General EducationCouncil, developing and advancing policies through vetting processes,approving additional pay agreements and administrative appointments,reviewing faculty contracts and letters of offers, providing leadership andguidance in addressing issues that emerge in faculty review processes,collaborating with central services teams and faculty governance bodiesto advance initiatives that support the well-being and success of faculty.

As the only Associate Dean of the College of Arts & Media (CAM) atthe time, the role and responsibilities of the position were wide rangingacross all areas. Supervision included the Academic Advising Director,Facilities and Lab Manager, College Coordinator, Emmanuel Gallery Director,and Events Manager. Areas of oversight included convening andleading staff meetings, reviewing and approving the course scheduling,facilitating the work of the curriculum committee, confirming faculty toteach in the International College of Beijing, Freshman Seminar courses,Honors and Leaders program courses, facilitating the student advisoryboard, leading the development and delivery of the student graduationsurvey, and strategic resource planning for computer labs and facilities.Supporting faculty included oversight and coordination of faculty processesassociated with appointment, reappointment, tenure, promotion,annual reviews, sabbaticals, and post tenure reviews, onboarding andwelcoming faculty, and coordinating faculty award processes. Engagementand activities in collaboration with the Dean included donor cultivation,budget planning, development and growth of CAM’s AdvisoryBoard, and partnership development. Led the development and growthof CAM’s ArtsBridge Program as the ArtsBridge Director.

ArtsBridge Director - College of Arts & Media (CAM). CAM’s ArtsBridge program was designed to enhance the visibility and reputation of the college, support arts education in K12 programs, and provide CAM students with opportunities to become teaching artists while receiving tuition scholarships for their work. Teams of students, supported by faculty mentors, worked with K12 teachers and students to develop art projects as a means of enhancing discipline-specific knowledge and classroom outcomes. Through ArtsBridge creative works of art and performances became the vehicle for students to learn about history, science, poetry, architecture, creative writing, and literature. Every project was presented in a culminating event which included exhibitions that celebrated the creative process and showcased project artifacts and public performances with audiences of 100-200 parents, students and teachers in attendance.

Elected to serve two four-year terms as a National Director. Projects and responsibilities included; developing and chairing the 2008 SPE national conference in Denver titled Agents of Change: Arts and Advocacy, served on the Atlanta and Florida national conference committees, served as the Chair of the Regional Affairs Committee, served as member of the Publications Committee, Nominating committee, Steering Committee, 50th Anniversary Campaign Committee and the Development Committee. Additionally, elected by the Board of Directors to serve on the Executive Committee that guides and oversees all aspects of the organization.The Society for Photographic Education is a nonprofit membership organization that provides and fosters an understanding of photography as a means of diverse creative expression, cultural insight, and experimental practice. Through its interdisciplinary programs, services and publications, the society seeks to promote a broader understanding of the medium in all its forms through teaching and learning, scholarship, and criticism. Since its establishment, many noted artists, curators, and critics in the field of photography have been involved with SPE or its programs. Although the majority of its 1,800 members are fine art photographers and educators, curators, critics, historians and artists are also members.
