    I have been working on testing Holidays Act Remediation for the 3 DHBS. During this time, I customised my self-built automated testing tool to each of the DHBs. Automated with VBA and excel formulas, the model assists with output testing by collating the payroll data and presenting the expected remediation values on an employee line by line level, which had not been provided by the vendor. This tool is now used by 5 testers across the 3 projects. 2 of the projects are daily paid and 1 is a batch pay system.

    I have been working on the MoE’s Holidays Act Remediation programme. My role in the team is focused on testing. Making sure the remediation tool outputs are compliant with the Holidays Act legislation using the logic and business decisions approved by MoE to meet this compliance. This involves a range of scenario and regression testing across current and former employees. All issues are raised and tracked with JIRA. Outputs are received as excel files so most testing has been completed manually with some VBA automation. Some of the tasks performed include:- Suggesting updates to config where current config is non-compliant or to get data to fit the rules of the tool- Suggesting updates to process flow rules to determine which calculations to use for Annual Leave (OWP8.1, OWP8.2, AWE), BAPS (RDP vs ADP) and determining an OWD where there is no fixed work pattern- Some data gathering from PSE SQL database with Microsoft Query- Checking remediation tool calculations, ensuring that each calculation is performed correctly. Raising any errors in JIRA to be fixed and testing fixes. - Individually checking employee calculations and logging any data cleansing needed with team. Working closely with data analysts who correct data and flag when calculations are ready to retest.

    I was initially recruited for three months to cover for an interim period between the existing Manager leaving and a newly hired Manager starting. My contract was then extended for a further 3 months to carry out some data analysis projects, implement process improvements and support the transfer of occupational absence from the legacy payroll system. I managed a team of 3 Administrators in a company of 3500 employees in 30 regions nationwide.Example works;Pension configuration: On discovery of discrepancy on employee pension contributions I investigated the config of pension scheme and located area where updates had not been completed correctly at year end. Made necessary adjustments on schemes and wrote "how to" guide for next year. One paygroup had continuous queries with tax. I wrote to HMRC who held different earnings and tax info to us. Investigated discrepancy which was caused by duplication of a submission during a change of payroll system. Provided correct data to HMRC to enable them to correct employees records. Set up various new reports in Oracle BI. Identify data tables and sort / filter as required. Each region in HFT has a different occupational absence scheme. I tested two, configuring the Occupational Absence screens in our UAT environment. I then loaded the test interface from T&A system into UAT, wrote test scenarios and checked the system calculations. I was unable to fully complete this project (due to moving to NZ) which would require another 6+ months to complete. I wrote a full project plan showing each step including testing, parallel runs and finally implementation into live.
