  I started working with BDS in 2006 as a Bibliographic Cataloguer and was promoted to my current position as Training Manager in 2010. I am responsible for managing and executing the training needs of new professionals and the continuing professional development of my colleagues. The job of a Subject Analysis Cataloguer involves assigning Dewey Decimal Classification, as well as Library of Congress Subject Headings and Library of Congress Classification to pre-publication and in-print titles. Name authority access points are also assigned, along with other MARC21 fields such as language codes and analytical entries. We create library quality metadata adhering to international standards, including RDA and MARC21 and supply national, public and academic libraries, as well as publishers and booksellers.I attend industry specific conferences and I am also a member of the UK DDC Users Forum, BDS' EDUG representative and EDUG secretary, and the current UK representative on the DDC Editorial Policy Committee and EPC vice chair.
