I left my last job as a case manager with Children's Bureau/Community Partners - Region 11 (Hamilton, Hancock,Tipton, Madison counties) in April, 2015, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. My job involved contacting families through referrals, that are in need of assistance finding Community resources to help them with activities of everyday living. Developing collaboration among resources in the community is essential to help families manage the problems that can occur with job loss, special needs children, mental health issues, health and insurance issues, public aid assistance and any other need that occurs each day in each of their lives.In addition, I served as the Region 11 Safe Sleep Coordinator for three years, conducting a class once a month in each of the counties, educating pregnant women/families of the current American Academy of Pediatrics Guidelines for providing a safe sleep environment for babies in the first year of life. The objective is education to reduce the risk of SIDS and Suffocation and ultimately the loss of lives of these most vulnerable human beings. Through this position I have been involved in the initiation of a variety of Community Outreach Programs for education and development of services.Prior to this position I worked in Perinatal Education and Marketing at Women's Hospital for ten years and continued that position for two additional years with St. Vincent Women's Hospital. I worked with expectant parents as they prepared for their birth. I have been a Childbirth Educator for over 30 years, obtaining my certification as a Lamaze Educator in 1982, and maintaining my recertification throughout the following years.I also had the experience of serving as an Assistant Teacher in Washington Township for nine years. I worked with children in K through 3 and with Special Needs children.
