About Joanne Michael

I am a 4-6 grade InSTED (Innovation, Science, Technology, Engineering and Design) teacher at The John Thomas Dye School. Previously, I spent 4 years as the Teacher On Special Assignment (TOSA) for K-5 Science/STEM for Wiseburn Unified. I was also a K-5 hands-on science teacher for 11 years, as well as the Upper Elementary Director for the California Science Teacher Association from 2014-2016, and a Manhattan Beach USD Teacher of the Year for 2016. I did an ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) contact in September of 2017, and am currently on the ARISS Education committee. I was a reviewer for the CA-NGSS Framework, as a well as a member of the CA Board of Education panel in assessing science curriculum in 2018.
