**Anthropology Field Researcher – SEACO Partnership Program** In July 2024, I participated in a two-week intensive field research program in Segamat, Malaysia, as part of a Monash University-led unit in collaboration with the South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO). Our team conducted ethnographic research focused on health and health development within diverse community contexts. We engaged with health professionals, pharmacy specialists, and community organizations, including a breast cancer support group, to gather qualitative data. This research culminated in a comprehensive report outlining our findings and recommendations, which was submitted to SEACO. The experience enhanced my skills in fieldwork, cross-cultural communication, and health-focused anthropological research.

As a Volunteer Intern with UN Youth Australia, Joann Grero contributed to advancing youth empowerment by centering young voices in policy and societal discussions. Her responsibilities included consulting with young people, community groups, and stakeholders from the private and public sectors to explore how youth issues intersect with broader societal trends.Joann utilized diverse research instruments, including surveys and consultations, to evaluate and amplify youth perspectives. She developed a public-facing analysis on trending areas of youth affairs, tailored to a chosen medium, and crafted strategic communications to represent the diversity of youth perspectives to stakeholders and community groups.Her role also involved contributing to youth consultation planning, operations, and impact evaluations. Joann liaised with program teams and external stakeholders to ensure the organisations impact was effectively managed and aligned with strategic goals.
