João is an environmental engineer (São Paulo-Brazil), with postgraduate degree in Safety Engineering (São Paulo-Brazil), a master's degree in Sustainable Energy (Porto-Portugal) and an in-course PhD degree in Environmental Science.Has developed an extensive and solid experience in environmental studies over the course of 10-year career, specifically: environmental impact assessment, environmental diagnostics and forensics, coordinating projects involving the preparation of environmental technical reports, field and bibliographic surveys - physical environment and flora; design, execution and monitoring of forest restoration, preparation of thematic maps in GIS, as well as environmental management and monitoring of civil construction. João attended to a Masters Course in Sustainability in Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, in Portugal, and have lived for 2 years and 8 months abroad, where he has also gained personal and professional experiences, such as teaching English classes for beginners, teaching capoeira classes for children, volunteer work in a national park, manager of a famous nursery and plant store, among others. During this time, he developed a Master's Thesis related to the the exploitation of urban pruning biomass - production of biochar by pyrolysis and analysis of its use as a soil conditioner for vegetables growing. Founded and developed a small business – Agroessência, living a journey of agroforestry production and sustainable rural property management. The business produces vegetables, fruits and mushrooms in agroecological and agroforestry systems, with proper management of animals, plants, natural resources and reforestation. Currently developing projects related to the generation of carbon credits - PDD/MR from Nature-based Solutions, as well as other decarbonization projects, forest restoration, GHG Protocol Agriculture inventories and related sustainability projects. In addition, coordinates the production and trade of agroecological handicraft products from family farming to promote forest restoration on a rural property, along with conduction of courses and practical training in ecological restoration.
