João is an aerospace engineer passionate about new technologies who graduated from UC Davis in 2019. During the pandemic, João began to work as an ESL teacher to help Brazilians reach new heights by speaking English. Since then, João has also been working as a translator, to facilitate the spread of information that is sometimes impeded by language barriers. João will graduate in Translation, his second undergraduate degree, in 2024, and will continue to pursue his goal of bringing the world together and connecting people.João speaks both Portuguese and English fluently, has advanced knowledge in Italian, and understands Spanish, French, and Latin, which are languages he has studied for at least 2 years. João can confidently translate into Portuguese and English from any of the languages listed above. In 2024, João hopes to begin studying German or Japanese. The latter is particularly interesting, because João's main goal is to work as a translator for the Pokémon Company, possibly translating the games from Japanese to Portuguese someday.João's interests include game localization, engineering, technology, subtitling, project management, dubbing, SDH, audio description, academic translation, interpretation, and proofreading. João hopes to contribute to world development through translation, in order to provide people with information and access. After graduating in Translation, João intends on continuing his academic career, doing a master's degree in Linguistic Studies at UFU, focusing on translation and localization.
