About João Moreira Pires
João Moreira Pires has a masters degree in Industrial Engineering for Universidade Nova de Lisboa. In his thesis he took an innovative approach to costumer care and handling in a luxury automotive workshop, under the subject of Lean Consumption. His current work also integrated another area he has explored parallel to his studies and professional life – human relations. Those skills revealed themselves crucial to unite the workshop’s team around this project. He also has recently invested in training to use MTM UAS - a method to measure time and improve work in assembly lines and processes with batch production features.João Moreira Pires had an international internship experience in Brussels, as a consultant and Programme Manager to a project applying to Intelligent Energy Europe tender. He wrote for “Think South Asia” Magazine, college newspapers and a youth and careers magazine in Portugal. He was also a project manager for a national youth parliament competition between schools in Portugal. Before that he graduated in Media and communication studies from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Lisbon.Automobiles are his great interest and hobby, not only driving but also repairing, maintaining and working on them. João Moreira Pires was born in Portugal and Portugal was the base of the 25 Years 25 cities project (facebook.com/25years25cities). This project, of witch he is co-founder and manager, consisted of taking a Mazda MX-5 (the world’s top selling convertible sports car) of the first generation around 25 European cities, from 8 countries, in 250 hours.Social volunteering played a key role in his upbringing and some of his other interests are hunting, clay pigeon shooting, fishing and outdoor activities.
