I'm passionate about how people perceive and use products and how we can design and develop new solutions that enrich and enable people to do more or new things. Because of this passion I am a trained engineer (EECS) and have been fortunate to lead successful projects still used by millions of people everyday.In 2010 I concluded my PhD in Engineering Systems at MIT where I focused on Product Development methods and how we can efficient and effectively build large and complex products by coordinating the inputs of multi-disciplinary teams.I spent a few months at the end of 2010 with the Center for Design Research at Stanford evolving some of the findings from my PhD research and exploring many new ideas in the design research space.For six years I managed a disruptive innovation initiative for Sumol+Compal, launching new business opportunities, promoting innovation culture and measuring innovation outputs of the whole company.I currently serve as a non-executive board member of Impresa, one of the most prestigious media groups in Portugal, owner of the reference weekly newspaper Expresso and the TV channel SIC, among many others.I am also a seed capital investor at Ganexa Capital.I am currently Affiliate Associate Professor at NovaSBE and am regularly invited to teach on innovation management in graduate and MBA programs, in Portugal and abroad.Specialties: Innovation Management, Digital Business and Transformation, Innovation Culture, New Product Design and Development with special focus on Project/product Management, System Evolution, Interaction Design, User Experience, Multi-Disciplinary Knowledge Coordination.
