As Stratio shifted its focus to more ambitious markets our team started designing and developing an IoT solution for the automotive sector that aimed to perform a continuous mechanical analysis from the vehicle’s sensors, and thus be able to identify patterns that can lead to failures and malfunctions (SME Instrument Phase 2 funding).Stratio sudden growth required us to look for a better sustainable approach that would support its growth (product complexity, team size and functions) while making progress at a competitive pace.As a Project Manager I was mainly focused on coaching the team(s) in the integration of agile values and processes in the company’s core (through Scrum and Kanban), fostering the developer team’s self-organisation, helping with the product vision and backlog and trying to inspire a mindset of iterative improvement through an empirical process.I gravitated towards the integration of new tools, definition of an organizational design and technological strategy, planning of team activities and open panels, and the search for the processes that would thrive a company culture that was aligned with Stratio’s mission.

Shift APPens is a technological event that gathers students from several technological areas, as well as entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts. Shift APPens is a 48h hackathon organized by NEIAAC - the students core of Informatics Engineering and Multimedia Design - and jeKnowledge - a junior enterprise from the University of Coimbra.Looking to provide a relaxed environment and to promote a healthy competition and share of knowledge this hackathon was born with the purpose to serve the student community (later extended to young tech entusiasts), by helping participants to bring their ideas to life, while making it easy to develop hard and soft skills, like creativity, teamwork and communication.
