Design of the ISOL target assembly job description:- coordinate, integrate and contribute to the design work on the various sub-components (target, target container, vacuum chamber, cooling, ion source...);- lead and ensure the technical interface with the other components of the ISOL system;- contribute to all aspects of target development and optimization for the production of radioactive ion beams (RIB) with high yields and of high quality;- ensure the production of the necessary target units with respect to the beam request according to the approved RIB-production and facility operation scheme;- characterize and document the performance and production rate of all target assemblies (both during the off-line tests during the development of the facility as well as on-line, after the facility becomes operational);- initiate innovative ideas for the production of new ion beams;- stay informed on the user’s requests of RIBs and the overall ISOL-system performances at other ISOL facilities.

The MEDICIS facility aims at becoming a European leading facility for the production of non-conventionalmedical isotopes for research in treatment and diagnosis, notably exploiting electromagnetic mass separation.In this position I'm responsible for scheduling the target irradiation, isotope separation and technical stops/upgrades in the MEDICIS facility. Liaise with the ISOLDE Physics Coordinator, ISOLDE Technical coordinator and the MEDICIS Collaboration members (for instance radiochemistry and biomedical research groups) who will receive the isotopes.

Carry out research in the production and purification of radioactive isotopes with the ISOL technique.The needs of the medical community being different than those of fundamental research require to rethink the process from fundamental principles. To that end, development of new protocols or techniques, or refine the existing approach, is necessary to improve the accessibility of the ISOL technique towards its use in medical applications.
