João Rei Lobo, also known by his artist name Rei, is a musician and sound engineer from South Africa with Portuguese heritage. He began making music at the age of 13, using equipment given to him by a friend of his brother. He later learned to use FL Studio and became a sound engineer for local churches. He has a degree in Music Technology and is proficient in playing the piano, drums, and using hardware synthesizers. These skills are evident in his productions, which are currently created using Ableton Live and often incorporate hardware synths. Currently, Rei is a resident sound engineer at a theater.
