The site was developed on Azure GOV Cloud services (Azure SQL, Azure Web App, Azure Function, using Azure DevOps). Net Core MVC was used as the development stack, integrated with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines. HHS Protect, Rest API was used to acquire participating healthcare providers and GIS metadata. User location and map display functionality was achieved using Mapbox GL JS for Geocoding and map display, using Rest API.

CDC – Senior Solutions Architect/Cloud Computing - Center for State, Tribal, Local and Territorial Support (CSTLTS). In this capacity I lead the architecture of the cloud migration project to redesign and develop the new Block Grant Information System (BGIS), this system manages the PHHS Block Grant process for CDC. The project requires re-engineering the legacy ASP.NET and SQL Server application, into a modern cloud-based Microsoft 365 architecture. The legacy system is replaced by utilizing Dynamics 365, Common Data Service (CDS), Power Platform, including Power Apps Model-Driven Applications, Power Apps Portal, and Power BI. This architecture allows easy integration of data across solutions and workflows. Usage of Microsoft’s Power Platform minimizes the use of traditional high-code developments, for creating Grant Recipient Work Plans, reporting requirements and process workflows. Utilized Agile software methodology, including Scrum. This resulted in meeting a critical deadline for the client.

The web application is able to dynamically assemble and display health topic information for the state that was chosen. Such information includes interactive charts, graphs and dashboards that can be printed or converted to PDF. The application’s User Interface leverages responsive design using CDC’s Bootstrap based web templates, as well as using Telerik’s KendoUI for the presentation layer. ASP.NET, using C# as well as JavaScript was used for the development framework and SQL Server 2016 in a data warehouse schema.

The system integrates disparate data sets from the Census Bureau and Public Health surveillance into a SQL Server 2012 data warehouse that includes spatial GIS information which is consumed using the web and mobile devices to retrieve and present visualization dashboards and statistical charts and graphs that present health analytics and metrics via an intuitive user interface which uses the Google Maps API for location-based (GIS) correlation of health information.
