John Banas is senior vice president/managing director of Debt & Equity in Northmarq’s Philadelphia office, where his responsibilities include co-leading the office’s growth, direct Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Financing, facilitating debt and equity placements, and managing lender and borrower relationships throughout the Mid-Atlantic.John joined Northmarq in 2024, after serving as senior vice president and managing director for six years co-leading Walker & Dunlop’s Philadelphia Office. He began his commercial real estate career in 2005 with a regional firm and has since closed more than $6 billion in commercial real estate financing transactions. John holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in both real estate and human resources management from Temple University. He actively participates in industry organizations including the Mortgage Bankers Association, the Urban Land Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers and serves on Provident Bank's Advisory Council.

John Banas joined the Philadelphia office of Colliers International in September of 2014. Previously he was a Senior Director at Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation, on the IPA Capital Markets platform, since 2011. Mr. Banas is responsible for securing commercial debt and equity financing for an array of property types including multifamily, office and industrial, retail, student & seniors housing and hospitality. He is well connected with national, regional and local funding sources including, but not limited to, agency lenders (e.g. Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac), commercial banks, CMBS lenders, life insurance companies, private and public funds and bridge lenders. Mr. Banas has 8 years of commercial real estate finance experience and has closed more than $1 billion in transactions. He specializes in the origination and placement of debt, mezzanine debt, and Preferred and JV equity. Prior to joining MMCC, John served as senior director of a regional commercial real estate investment firm.

John Banas joined the Philadelphia office of Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation (MMCC) in September 2011. As a Senior Director with MMCC, Mr. Banas is responsible for the origination and placement of debt, mezzanine debt, and JV equity. Mr. Banas entered the real estate business in 2005 as a senior director for a regional commercial real estate investment firm. In this role, he was responsible for originating, servicing and funding transactions through a network of lenders and investors. In addition, he has advised clients on growth strategies and turnaround financing. Mr. Banas has structured and closed more than $850 million complex financial transactions.

Mr. Banas joined Bluestone in 2005 to focus on new business development and strategic relationship growth for the firm. Today, his responsibilities include originating new business, raising equity for the firm’s clients and structuring and negotiating loans for all product types. Mr. Banas lends his business acumen and entrepreneurial experience to help the firm’s clients achieve their financing goals. Prior to joining Bluestone, Mr. Banas owned and operated a successful chain of independent fitness centers in and around Philadelphia. He funded the majority of the business through the raising of private equity.Mr. Banas holds BBA’s in both Real Estate and Human Resource Management from Temple University. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Urban Land Institute, and CCIM, through which he is completing his designation.
