Jobe is an energy engineer for 2RS Consulting, LLC, a remote-based company that helps large commercial buildings reduce utility usage. Jobe graduated with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Louisville’s J.B. Speed School of Engineering in 2022. As part of his bachelor’s degree, he participated in three co-ops at Midea America Research Corporation. During these internships, he assisted product line managers in researching and developing innovative appliance features. He led the development of a multi-dose detergent dispenser. He also researched accelerated cooling methods for ice makers and pressure cookers. These projects required mechanical design, electrical, and programming skills. Additionally, Jobe’s operation and maintenance of 3D-printing equipment saved Midea thousands of dollars in replacement costs. He was eventually entrusted with calibrating a large-format printer purchased during his last rotation, which expanded the prototyping and production capabilities of the facility.During his studies at the University of Louisville, Jobe also participated in a number of structured projects with the Additive Manufacturing Institute of Science and Technology. For his undergraduate capstone design project, he was the lead designer of a smart build plate for SLM printers that would detect when the recoater blade was contacting the part. For his graduate research project, he studied the effects of SLM process parameters on part surface roughness to better optimize part durability. He conducted a thorough investigation using a design of experiments and applied data-management skills to present an accurate comparison of different prediction models.Jobe possesses a broad skill set that allows him to adapt quickly to new situations. He loves to solve problems of every variety and is always willing to learn new skills. Outside of the workplace, Jobe loves sharing time with his friends and family by playing music, hosting dinners, and going on road trips.
