As a teacher dedicated to helping students develop the skills necessary for a rapidly evolving digital world, I strive to be far ahead of new technologies. My curiosity for new digital tools, combined with my skills as an educator, has been greatly beneficial to me in making me able to quickly analyze, curate, and apply new tools that are effective in an educational context. This has led me to take on specialized roles in my career, including working as an Instructional Coach and a Secondary Instructional Technology Leader. All of these experiences and curiosities helped greatly during the "great pivot" to online learning during the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, where I worked quickly to develop online lessons for students and assisted colleagues to navigate such a seismic shift in teaching practices. One thing I have learned in my experience is that good tools are not enough: While I have become very proficient with technologies, what’s most important is that there are clear and effective learning designs and intentions behind the tools. My time in education has taught me how people learn and how I can support different kinds of learners and anticipate their needs with targeted, multi-modal assessments and formative feedback.

Growing up, I always had a marker or crayon or paintbrush in my hand. I've always loved art and creating beautiful things. In high school, I was most excited to go to art class everyday. I recently rediscovered my passion for drawing and illustration a few years ago when I picked up a Wacom Intuos graphics tablet on a whim, and, just like when I was a kid, one can always find me with a pen or digital pen in my hand, doodling away. I have been working on improving my skills for the past few years using real and digital media. When not working digitally, I like to experiment with watercolour, gouache, and ink. Digitally, I mainly use Procreate and Photoshop, and I'm learning all about the world of vector illustration through Affinity Designer.
