No one knew my name, I was “That Girl”.I have never fit the narrative.When I was three I asked Santa for a princess dress and boxing gloves. On my fourth birthday my parents gave me a peewee dirt bike. Since that gift, most Sundays would begin with the sound of my Dad warming up a two-stroke engine. It was race day!My Mom would make sure I was geared up properly while my Dad topped off my fuel tank, and we would head to the starting line. My long blonde hair hanging out of my helmet turned a lot of heads. Who was this girl in line with the boys?Other fathers often scoffed at my audacity to sign up with their sons. However, they payed me little mind as they could not imagine I posed any threat. Most would offer a politically correct smile of encouragement and return focus to their rider. In the final moments, my dad would offer his silent encouragement by braiding my ponytail and we waited the waive of the green flag. My determination couldn’t be matched and as my results began to land me on the podium, I was met with acceptance from the boys and their fathers. Now, their smiles were genuine when they would call out “Hey, there’s ‘That Girl!’” This journey that began locally has led me to two National Championships in the Grand National Cross-Country series (GNCC). In 2020 I made history by being the youngest female accepted to the women’s premier class (WXC) at the age of 15. You may be asking ‘why do we need a dirt bike racer in our company?’. Racing at this level requires a special kind of motivation and preparedness. Each time I race, I know I will be faced with grueling obstacles and tiresome challenges. It has helped hone my skills in decision making, troubleshooting, and time management. Racing is an individual sport and has taught me to be proactive and accountable. I do not make excuses when things go wrong, but instead act. These skills learned through race experiences have proven to be a recipe for success in other areas of my life. Concurrent with my racing career, I have excelled in academics. I was honored to be inducted to the National Honors Society with my 4.0 GPA. Financial constraints have compelled me to be an entrepreneur, taking on all kinds of jobs in my community. In the past three years, with determination and hard work, my client list has increased immensely. The diverse demands of the various projects have resulted in valuable opportunities for real life problem solving and exceptional organization. If you are looking for a diligent individual who is unrelenting in her efforts to succeed, “I’m that girl”.
