She supports the Detroit office as the field team leader for annual dye testing and supports data management annual dye injection tests for CDM Smith’s Detroit, Michigan water services group. She also has experience in collecting groundwater, soil, and VOCs in various media.Ms. Marsack is also a Field Team Leader for the McLouth Steel Corp Superfund site located in Trenton, Michigan (EPA Region 5).

• Ms. Marsack began working at CDM Smith performing technical reviews of pesticide ecotoxicology and fate studies according to the OCSPP 850 and OCSPP 835 Series. She critically analyzed studies for regulator guideline compliance, experimental design quality, statistical method and toxicity value calculations. She performed independent statistical verification according to OCSPP guidelines using the statistical software CETIS (Comprehensive Environmental Toxicity Information Systems), chemical analysis data, and experimental data. She also supported projected management by assigning work across the team, tracking and preparing deliverables, and assisting with monthly budgets (calculations, data entry). • Since then, she has expanded her skillset to providing human health and ecological risk assessment calculation support on State and Federal projects. Additionally, she has provided technical oversight of contractors for a cap-and-cover landfill remediation project for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality and for construction projects at Superfund sites. She is efficient and detail-oriented at preparing daily reports of contractor progress, site conditions, and subcontractor activity.

• Ms. Marsack was the primary investigator for the project (see Publications). She designed and performed complimentary laboratory and common-garden studies, examining how direct effects of aqueous sodium chloride (NaCl) on plants indirectly effect insect herbivores (i.e., trophic interactions) via mortality assays and feeding trials. She authored and was successfully awarded two grants, the Undergraduate Stimulus Package and the Symposium Undegraduate Research Fellowship, totaling in $4,500 for her time and project materials. She presented her findings at the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and the Ecological Society of America Annual Meeting (Louisville, KY, August 2019).

• Ms. Marsack maintained natural areas by identifying native and non-native vegetation and providing mechanical and chemical removal of invasive plant species. She also led outreach and volunteer events with public and local school audiences to teach importance of invasive species management, environmental health, and natural history of Ann Arbor. She also was a crew member for prescribed burns to maintain restoration efforts from invasive species removal

• Ms. Marsack was the field team leader for the intern group, who were tasked with conducting tributary assessments. Her and the team collected water quality parameters, performed riparian zone health surveys, collected GPS data points and photos for GIS mapping. She also created ArcGIS maps to aid in watershed management based on data collected from the tributary assessments. She also led education events for local schools on water quality standards, measurements, and instrumentation to further community understanding of water use in municipalities, in a community, and individual use. She also collected and identified benthic macroinvertebrates for volunteer events to determine long-term stream quality and potential future risks of tributaries.
