Entertainment Editor/Assistant Features Editor
What's Up! is the entertainment section of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, covering art, music and theater events in the region of the state that is also home to Walmart's home office, and the headquarters for Tyson Foods and J.B. Hunt Transport Services. These and other important businesses pour into northwest Arkansas' arts community and have lead to incredible writing and interview opportunities with top-tier musicians, artists and actors, as well as eminent leaders, curators, chefs, creators and innovators. I was instrumental in establishing a consistent brand for the entertainment section that reflects our diverse community, and brought a new vitality to the section through alternative storytelling formats. I contributed to the editorial decisions of the deadline-driven weekly section, executed podcast interviews and on-scene reporting, and covered artistic beats including the Walton Performing Arts Center, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and Arkansas' ambitious new multidisciplinary arts space the Momentary.
