Covered all levels of community recreation sports, junior high sports, high school sports and junior college sports. Wrote stories, took photographs, designed and laid out sports pages for Iola Register, a six-day daily -- now a five-day daily. Wrote stories and did photos for five special sports sections a year. Did stories on outdoor and wildlife sports. Also covered meetings and did feature stories.

It was an entry-level staff writer and photographer job. In the five years, I was on staff I covered school board, city council meetings, did feature stories, covered rodeos, 4-H activities, sports events for three school districts along with summer recreation sports. I also helped layout the weekly newspaper pages, helped insert advertising into papers and label papers to be delivered.
