✖️My passion and expertise is in the Intersection of psychology x technology and in authentic wellbeing.✖️In late 2013, I created Digital Nutrition - a framework for teaching principles of a healthy, sustainable relationship to technology. It is part of the growing digital wellbeing movement, but instead of suggesting unplugging or digital 'detoxing', I advocate for intentional and intelligent technology use.✖️I regularly present on the impacts of technology, consult to brands and comment in the media on cyberpsychology, digital wellbeing and modern lifestyle issues. I gave a TEDx talk on 'digital superfoods' and indie games in 2015 and in 2019, I presented keynotes at over 15 conferences including EduTECH and Happiness And It's Causes (then that pandemic thing happened..). I've been popping up on the TV since my appearance on Romper Room in 1982 and was invited onto ABC TV's Q&A as a panellist in 2019 and 2020.✖️In 2021 I completed a Masters of Applied Science (Cyberpsychology) at Sydney University's Faculty of Medicine and Health, where I investigated the relationship between parenting styles and self-control on Year 7 students' proneness to Problematic Internet Use (PIU). I am part of the Cyberpsychology research group - the first of it's kind in Australia.✖️I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree (with majors in Human Geography and Performance Studies), a Diploma of Education (Secondary), a Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology and a Masters of Applied Science (Cyberpsychology). I am a registered as a general Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and am a board endorsed supervisor of provisional psychologists.✖️After five years of teaching social science at selective state boys high school (during which time I co-ordinated the whole school debating program, one of the largest and most successful in NSW) - I retrained as psychologist and moved out of the classroom into the role of School Counsellor, working between several schools from K-12 in Sydney's south-west and inner-city. I finally left the Dept of Education in early 2022.✖️As of 2024, I combine creating keynotes & courses and consulting services on Digital Nutrition with my bespoke private psychology practice in Sydney's inner-west.
