Jocelyn is a Registered Architect, Registered Landscape Architect and Urban Designer with 20 years’ experience in consulting and client side roles. As the Director City Design at the City of Melbourne, Jocelyn leads an interdisciplinary studio of urban designers, architects, landscape architects and industrial designers. Jocelyn has broad experience in the design, procurement and management of vibrant urban places; and is passionate about creating sustainable and enduring civic environments.Jocelyn is a member of the Office of the Victorian Government Architect’s Victorian Design Review Panel (VDRP) and a past National and State Councillor at the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA). Her previous appointments include Chair of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects’ (AILA) Gender Equity Committee 2019-21 and Chair of the 2020 Victorian Landscape Architecture Awards Jury. In 2019, Jocelyn guest edited a university design edition of Architect Victoria and contributed to AIA National Procurement Guidelines. Jocelyn’s recent speaking engagements include: 2024 MAVLab Innovation Talk: Connected Places, 2024 Design Matters: Adapt, 2024 AIA International Women’s Day Luncheon, 2023 Architecture Symposium: Acts of Generosity, 2022 Gender Equity Vic Conference; 2021-24 MPavilion: The Excellent City Series, 2021-24 Melbourne Design Week; 2020 AILA National Conference; 2019 International Association of University Architects Conference in St Louis, Missouri; 2019 Landscape Australia Conference; 2019 International Action on Equity Symposium; 2019 Property Council of Australia (PCA) Education Sector Panel (as moderator) and 2018 and 2017 Tertiary Education Management Conferences.Between 2012 and 2020, Jocelyn led campus planning and design at Monash University, where she was charged with embedding cultures of curation, innovation and quality. She co-authored the university’s first Public Art Masterplan, was a founding member of its first Public Art Committee, and established and managed its first Design Review Panel and Architect Selection Committee. Jocelyn has led multiple postgraduate design studios at the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne School of Design. She continues to be involved in wider design critiques, competition juries and panels including as an adviser to New Footscay Hospital RFP and NGV Contemporary RFP. Jocelyn is a firm believer that #designmatters.
