My most recent role is as co-founder of IREMIS which I set up with Jos Short as 50/50 shareholders and as co-chairmen. IREMIS is our new real estate investment management firm focusing on specialist real estate like hotels, leisure or retail to navigate the current unique challenges and rapidly changing world post Covid, geopolitical tensions, off shoring and facing climate change and AI issues. Together they have led and will continue to lead to more disruption and inflation not seen for decades and first real monetary tightening of central banks policies since 2008/09, e.g. higher interest rates and reduced liquidity. This affects capital markets, real estate assets, values and returns across the spectrum including especially travel, leisure and retail which are our focus. My track record includes billions of hotel investments, M&A , financings and disposals. I started as VP Development at Meridien Hotels in New York and Paris then with Hilton in London before moving into Investment banking with Lazard and later Head of hotel fund management and Global Exec Committee Member at Invesco RE, Partner, shareholder & Head of Hotel & Leisure of Internos before becoming CEO - Hotel & Leisure division of Principal Real Estate Europe after we sold Internos to Principal. In 2020 the Hotel Asset Management Association awarded me and my team the Hotel Portfolio Manager of the year award due to the successful management of the major hotel fund I launched in 2011/12 and later sale to Axa for 550 Mio of all remaining hotels in this Hotel Fund in Dec. 2019. It provided our investors with returns far exceeding expectations and allowed us to create our latest venture, IREMIS Sarl Luxemburg. I also have my own Family Investment firm I set up in 2020 which I use to manage family investments. I read law at the Heidelberg University, Germany, studied at ESSEC in Paris and got a Master's from Cornell University Hotel School in New York ( Hotel real Estate focus). I am German and also speak french, english and spanish.
