I was recommended by a former Holt, Rinehart & Winston coworker to join a team working remotely on all aspects of a new TX high school science program, including reworking/heavily editing chapters for TX adoption for both the pupil and teacher editions as well as ancillaries, labs, assessment questions, etc. The program was adopted by TX, and FL accepted the TX program with minor edits. All work was digital using Adobe InDesign, K4, MS Word, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. I worked on both the Chemistry and Physical Science programs. I’m most proud of catching several last-minute content errors and giving a clear explanation of the law of multiple proportions in a very limited amount of space.

After learning how to use SportsEngine software, I improved the visual appeal of, updated, and currently maintain Stratford High School’s Athletic Booster Club website, https://www.shsboosterclub.com. Most of my time is spent writing/editing/formatting each sport’s weekly news to recognize athletes, adding pictures, and ensuring the entire site is current and reflects Stratford High School athletics favorably. I’ve gotten very positive feedback about my work. This is a volunteer position.

I was asked to be on the 2024 Stratford High School PTSA Scholarship committee. I scored applications according to the rubric, which took into account each student’s GPA via a transcript, teacher recommendations, extra-curricular activities inside and outside of Stratford, work experience, and writing ability as demonstrated by a response to an essay prompt. Treating each application with respect, fairness, and discretion, I turned in my scores to the committee chair in a timely manner and offered suggestions on ways I felt the rubric could be improved for the following year to further differentiate students’ scores since many of the students scored very similarly using the current rubric. This was a volunteer position.

I had three kids very close in age starting in June of 2003. Being a mom is the best and craziest job I’ve ever had that never ends! I have been fortunate to be able to do some volunteer work and keep my skills up through the kids’ organizations and schools. However, the constant demands of this job are wrapping up as my kids are moving on to college and the workforce.

After learning how to use WordPress, I reorganized, updated, and maintained First Junior Woman’s Club website, https://fjwc.org/. Main duties included ensuring the website remained user-friendly and current, updating content, and frequently communicating important information to over 300 members via eBlasts. This was a volunteer position.

I led all communication regarding the scholarship process, created the application, reviewed all the submitted applications while maintaining anonymity of the applicants, and led committee meetings to explain the rubric to use and the procedures to follow to score the applications to maintain respect, fairness, and discretion for each applicant. I also authored the letters and certificates given to the winners. My greatest accomplishment was successfully leading the 10-person committee to ultimately award the scholarships to the best candidates. This was a volunteer position.

In January 2017, I significantly reworked and effectively authored the original, outdated bylaws for the organization, which was celebrating a 50-year anniversary at the time. Over the next five years, I was the “bylaw expert” and charged with incorporating changes in the document that were voted on by the organization. This was a volunteer position.

I wrote, edited, and managed a multitude of instructional manuals and other items in digital format using XML that gave detailed procedures on how to operate our semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Throughout the process, I frequently collaborated with subject matter experts (SMEs), my local team in Austin, and my international team in Japan. SMEs often referred to me as the writer who always “got it.” I also attended many classes alongside customer trainees detailing how to use the equipment, collecting valuable input in real time on ways we could improve our customers' digital experience in the cleanroom with our manuals.

I edited/wrote science textbooks, workbooks, and other materials for a new TX middle school program. The program was adopted by TX. This project started from ground zero with remote writers that sent in chapters. Everything needed a great deal of rewriting to meet the audience need and to be creative and fun. Calls were held regularly with a remote designer in Maine for art and photo content as well as placement on the page. I’m most proud of consistently meeting the highly aggressive deadlines.

I synthesized and purified many organic chemical compounds (drugs) that were made into reference solutions for drug testing. This position required DEA clearance. I developed novel techniques to synthesize and isolate compounds for 99%+ purity; kept a detailed, neat lab notebook so my work could be repeated; and managed each project from initial synthesis to final reference solution product, working with several different teams along the way, such as quality control and marketing. My greatest accomplishment was synthesizing a metabolite of ethanol, ethyl glucuronide, that I was tasked with as a new hire.
