The Office of Kat Taylor advances public policy, impact investments, philanthropic endeavors, community initiatives, and other social enterprises aimed at systemic transformation to address climate change, foster regenerative and sustainable agricultural practices, cultivate an equitable food system, and establish a robust economic and financial infrastructure through community-centric banking methods that restore our planet and extend prosperity to all.As the Director of Agricultural Projects, I lead the flagship initiative administered by the Office of Kat Taylor — The Agricultural Platform Collective (APC) — a collaboration between the TomKat Ranch Educational Foundation and OKThink Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, focused on transforming the agricultural sector by bolstering the economic viability, sustainability, and resilience of farmers, ranchers, and rural communities at-large. The APC aims to create a cohesive and inclusive network of agricultural producers in California, providing small-scale, socially disadvantaged, and environmentally conscious producers with the necessary training, tools, and resources to expand their businesses and access stable market opportunities. Through partnerships and alliances, we empower these producers to thrive within the industry and drive the transition to a sustainable and equitable food system. Our ultimate goal is to help farmers and their families build generational wealth and sustainability while promoting regenerative agriculture solutions across farms and ranchlands for the long-term.As a proud son and product of family farmers, I am honored to be a part of this transformative work and look forward to continuing to drive positive change within the agricultural sector and beyond.

Led Programs & Partnerships for Stephen and Ayesha Curry’s Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation - a new foundation the Currys launched that has become one of the country’s most innovative and impactful charities through its commitment to create equal opportunities and bright futures for every child. In this role, I oversaw the vision and direction of ELP’s grant-making & programmatic work and will mobilize support for this work across ELP's base of brand and foundation partners.

Served as senior economic development advisor to the Mayor, with the responsibility of creating, coordinating, and facilitating innovative public/private/philanthropic partnerships that foster equitable opportunities and benefits for the people of Oakland. Specific and supportive initiatives in this role included the following:- Developed a functional and collaborative economic development ecosystem by creating public-private partnerships with business, community and City Council to mitigate displacement of residents, and help support the creation, retention and growth of entrepreneurs, small businesses, nonprofits and artists.- Led the development of the City of Oakland’s three-year Economic Development Strategy, grounded on equitable economic development and prioritizing and investing in local businesses, especially those run by women and people of color.- Managed the overhaul and culture change of the City’s Workforce Development Board into a highly-effective and trusted system that prepares Oaklanders, especially people of color, for quality and sustainable jobs and careers of the future.- Provided leadership and strategy to help launch and raise over $60 million in philanthropic and private funding for various public-private partnerships, including the Oakland Promise – a cradle-to-career initiative that seeks to triple the number of young people in Oakland to graduate from college.- Co-founded the Oakland Fund for Public Innovation – a start-up nonprofit that engages and convenes philanthropic partners to support City of Oakland priorities. Its mission is to support City of Oakland priorities by engaging private partners and resources to innovate, test, and scale ways to enhance and improve city government and its delivery of services. - Supported businesses, high net-worth individuals and philanthropic institutions in researching and aligning investment opportunities in the Oakland Community based on their respective priorities.

- Provided strategic leadership, management and direction to the organization. My primary emphasis was on strong and innovative management, the cultivation of a strong network of high caliber consultants and advisors, and on promoting a fundamental change in the way communities and all its residents benefit from economic development efforts. - Convened public, private and community people and resources to solve community and business problems. These efforts have led to ICA creating and launching an investment fund - Fund Good Jobs - where I now serve as a director of the board. Similarly, we recently launched the Talent Management Initiative - an innovative approach to re-shaping the workforce development sector.- Oversaw $12 million of total pro bono investments into the ICA mission. In 2013, these combined investments supported the creation and retention of almost 3,000 good jobs and the generation of $93 million in wealth created for local residents. - Focused on ensuring that the ICA model served those that need help the most. To that end, 73% of ICA companies hired workers with barriers to employment, 59% of ICA companies are owned by women, and 48% are owned by people of color.
