Jodee leads the Indiana Value Chain Network, where value chain professionals from the private, nonprofit and public sectors work together to rebuild local and regional food systems through trust-based relationships and innovative solutions. Focused on network development and values-based institutional food procurement, Jodee works to expand our understanding of challenges and opportunities and will directly engage universities, schools, hospitals and other institutions in best practices and network development for food procurement. To achieve this, we take a community development approach while providing the education and technical information critical for those in the community committed to local food system development. My vision for Indiana is that we are better able to feed ourselves with healthy, fresh, locally grown food and farm products. Our rich agricultural history combined with increased farm and market channel diversification will enable local food leaders and consumers to realize the economic development opportunities and address shortfalls in our food system for hunger, health and equality. General Studies Degree

Working with traditional and non-traditional students in the General Studies degree program in the College of Arts and Sciences, I advised hundreds of students each semester on degree completion and academic progress.

As owner and farmer of Gener8 Farms, I worked to provide the organic vegetables for families in a participatory CSA model. Farming members assisted with the planting and harvesting of their food. In addition, I sold at the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market during the 2011 and 2012 seasons, specializing in heirloom tomatoes.

Education Abroad Center

International Educational experiences are difficult for students in STEM fields to integrate into their undergraduate degree. My position involved creating informational resources for students, faculty and advising staff to remove real and perceived barriers to studying abroad.

University Of California, Davis Student Farm

Working with the student farm manager and fellow interns and employees, we worked to grow and harvest fruits and vegetables for a 65 member year-round CSA.

Melbourne, Australia

In Melbourne, Australia, I hosted between 50-100 students attending the University of Melbourne and Monash University each semester. From airport pickup, orientation, footy games and camping to the reverse culture shock training, I assisted students in the Butler program with cultural, academic, social and safety issues while on their study abroad program.

I managed plant health, breeding lines and field trials on a traditional tomato breeding program working to integrate black mold resistance from wild genotypes.

During the 1998 crush, I analyzed samples of juice, fermenting and finished wines for the winemakers.

At SAIC, I worked as a research biologist on the Yucca Mountain project on the Nevada Test Site, near Las Vegas.
