Developed plans and estimates for proposals and winning bids for $100M+ implementations in the UK. From a PMO perspective, rationalised the portfolio, introduced budget monitoring and management, and produced regular executive reporting to provide visibility over the health of the portfolio. Produced a timeline view of delivery schedules, dependencies and risks, and worked with our development team to introduce regular release cycle utilising dev, test, release and production environments for Queensland Health. Worked closely with the Product Manager to prioritise feature requests and produced 6, 12 and 18 month roadmaps.

Following the Royal Commission into Child Sexual Abuse, the YMCA NSW set up a PMO to prioritise and track business, IT and building projects. Rationalised the portfolio of over 100 projects, and with the CEO created a 3 year strategic roadmap and portfolio. Provided coaching and process improvements to the PMO team (2 project managers, 1 business analyst) and established simplified reporting for the executive. Produced monthly board papers, and presented directly to board members on 2 strategic programs.

Hawkesbury Campus

Promoted to Strategic Planning and Portfolio Manager in December 2015. Created a 24-month roadmap of the IT portfolio (representing $200M per year investment) related to the university digital strategy and overall strategy. With my strategic portfolio analyst, established a prioritisation framework for projects > $50k in value. With the support of the Chief Digital Officer, developed and implemented a demand management process to enable the university executive to approve funding requests for IT projects and programs. Led the Learning and Teaching Technology Evaluation committee to evaluate requests for seed funding to experiment with innovative technologies.

At the commencement of the Project Delivery Office Manager role, production of monthly portfolio reporting was a full-time job for two portfolio analysts. Within three months reduced it to two days per month which enabled us to focus on creating a collaboration site for our project and program managers. Starting out as a Senior Project Manager - led strategic initiatives ranging from $25k to $2M in value. Successfully delivered Windows upgrades, TRIM upgrades, telemetry systems and websites in a challenging technical environment governed by the NT government and involving remote locations without network connectivity across the Northern Territory. Promoted to IT PMO Manager in March 2014. With a $60M per year IT investment portfolio, this role had 8 project managers, business analysts and business relationship managers providing consulting and delivery services to Power and Water Corporation. The role involved development, prioritisation and management of the project portfolio, budget, forecasting, continuous improvement of processes and leadership of the team. Key team member in a service transformation (implementing ITIL) and was the process lead for business relationship management and release and deployment management.

As the marketing and product manager Jo was responsible for development of the product roadmap. This included competitor analysis to determine which features were most needed by the external market. Jo represented client interests in the product roadmap and in conjunction with the development manager and release manager, determined which new features, enhancements or bug fixes were included in each release. Jo was also responsible for all web content, news updates, blog updates, twitter account and developed the data visualization gallery to showcase example sites (http://www.spacetimeresearch.com/about/customers/gallery/ ). Jo maintained the mailing list and developed press releases and mailouts to the list on a regular (usually monthly) basis.

The role of Director, Customer Quality & Success reported to the CEO and encompassed test management including managing a team of 8 testers, quality management and reporting to customers, project management and delivery of SuperSTAR solutions to customers, customer communication and engagement (including management of the support team of 6 consultants), customer retention, proposals and tender responses, website content, and financial and budget management. Jo was also responsible for communication to our general customer base via email (product updates), user group meetings, face to face meetings with key customers, web site and Customer Quality and Success Blog. In addition she was responsible for the launch and product management of SuperSTAR cloud offering and Software as a Service on apps.gov. While performing this role, Jo became the acting manager of an agile product development team for 3 months during a restructuring phase in the organization.

Jo was the manager of the professional services group and built a team of 7 implementation consultants to deliver SuperSTAR solutions to clients around the world. The professional services team was managed as a separate profit centre and the role involved meeting financial as well as other KPIs. As part of the professional services manager role, Jo implemented a Prince 2-based project management system and delivered quarterly reports on project performance to the Board. Jo was also the Quality manager, and responsible for the organisation’s certification to ISO9000/9001 until the certification process was deemed unnecessary by senior management.
