While my license is still used to run our JFK/EWR offices, I have taken a backseat on the day to day activities there. I still oversee things as much as possible, and continue to assist with higher level issues when needed. Otherwise there is a lead broker in my place for the day to day needs. With my role on the Compliance team my responsibilities now include: Auditing, customer support, staff support, troubleshooting, assisting branches with Compliance projects, assessing Compliance risks, creating SOP’s, actioning Custom’s notices/Penalties/Mitigations, running bi-weekly/monthly Compliance reports, keeping the staff and clients up to date on Customs/Trade updates and regulations, tracking PMS duty amounts, Protest filing, training, attending training classes/symposiums/conferences to keep up to date on the constantly changing rules and regulations, and more.

As the permit holder for Janel JFK/EWR I was responsible for entry writing, paying the daily statement, training the staff and keeping them up to date with compliance issues and regulatory changes. As well as problem solving, customer service, Protest filing, managing Customs notices, penalties/mitigation, maintaining Customs compliance, and generally assisting the staff with issues of all kind.

I worked at WCB previously as an entry writer, and came back years later as a broker. So I had the same responsibilities as previously mentioned, with the added focus of managing the staffs workflow, training, and auditing.
