While my work history has always been in the service sector; my challenges jumped to a new level when I took on the position at King City Lodge. Mobility and mental health issues often times required me to find new ways to perform my duties. Getting the job done is important but care and safety of resident is paramount. It has trained me to be more open minded and flexible in my thinking and in my approach. The Administrative position for J and J Trans was a complete start up venture. I was expected to research and implement an appropriate accounting system for a small business. Get programs in place to comply with government tax regulations, WSIB, and other personal insurance. It was a learning experiece for me and I found help when I needed too, but I managed it quite efficiently.The office cleaning positions have me as a key holder. My responsibilites are straight forward but they require me to work independently and to make good decisions when situations arise.Overall, these part time positions have allowed me to learn new skills, and they gave me the flexibility to raise a family, while making a contribution to the household. I am eager to take on new challenges, learn new skills and ultimately get back into the classroom on a part time basis in order to complete my bachelors degree.
