Design geek. Doer. Process-driven. Organiser. Helping find solutions. The pivotal moment in my 30-year career was when I worked in publishing and moved from design to IT support. I discovered that while I enjoyed the creativity, the process of designing efficiently excited me even more. While working for Haymarket Media Group in London, I templated and migrated around 100 consumer and B2B magazines from QuarkXpress to InDesign. I also supported staff through the transition. It was a marathon many might have hated, but I loved it. When we (my husband and I) first set up our creative agency Ronnoco in Newcastle, I initially managed and brought in the business, indulging my love of people and networking. I then also took on my own clients, focusing on long documents and design. I thrive on geeky detail-focused stuff. Give me a massive Word document with graphics and images that need to be designed on brand or a template that needs creating and implementing, and I’m in my happy place. InDesign support (staff and clients), print advice, process definition, brainstorming solutions, delivering on budget and on time, that’s me. In my circles, I’ve become a bit of a go-to person for pretty much everything. It’s all about my contacts!A perhaps more hidden side of my skill set is events. I like helping others and bringing things together from start to finish. It allows me to put all my skills into action: organising, designing, managing the systems, and promoting. In 2020, I played a key role in organising the community charity event, Sleepout for Soul at Home, helping raise $90k and becoming the COVID Business Hero (People’s Choice) winner. Such a thrill and honour.Ultimately, whatever I’m doing, my goal is always the same. To come up with the best and most beautiful way to do things, make it happen, and support, inspire and motivate people along the way.
