I started this agency fresh out of university and a graduate scheme with a two-word business plan: get clients.In the beginning I executed like crazy: I was everywhere, I met everyone, I filled my days with events and prospects and we built up a brilliant client base and wonderful team. I learned from everyone I met and took inspiration from how they had built their businesses.Next it was systemizing. Putting in place processes and systems to take case-by-case out of everyday decisions and grow. I wanted to remove myself as the bottleneck to winning new clients. I wanted to travel. I wanted a self-sufficient team who were in charge of their own careers and didn't need chasing up to do a great job.After systemizing came scrutinizing. What part did I want to play in this business? Our clients were being looked after, our sales team were doing brilliantly, everyone in the team was excelling in their roles and taking on more responsibility. I found myself with more time on my hands and started to travel for one month in every three, safe in the knowledge that all was well back at the ranch.After a scary March 2020, where we lost 25% of our clients in one week, we spent the next few months trying to out-work the pandemic and managed to pull it off. Thanks to my brilliant team members we grew back to pre-pandemic size and then a further 20%. It was time to decide what to do next.In August 2020 I decided the agency was ready for a new home and I was ready for a new challenge. My team was ready for its next step under new leadership. We started the process of meeting with potential buyers and found our perfect deal.The sale completed in March 2021 and the team joined forces with a bigger entity with audacious ambition. I handed over the keys and the next chapter began for all of us.
