She consistently generated creative solutions to production related problems providing strategic assessments that allowed producers and fellow assistant directors to make the best choice for each situation. In addition to her assistant director role, Ms. Long assumed a leadership role as the on-set safety contact attending various safety classes and maintaining a working knowledge of medical, equipment, stage and general safety protocols for the shooting company. Rather than seeing this extra role as a burden, Jodie used the role to gain a better sense of the concerns our crew had about accomplishing their jobs safely and efficiently. She provided a much needed bridge between the crew and the producers and in the process created an environment in which better safety practices benefited everyone.
